Due to a move to a new home without a fenced in yard, along with the arrival of a newborn baby, Baron is looking for someone to take him in.  He is a great dog who will be greatly missed. :(

Baron loves work and play, and thrives with consistent exercise and discipline.  He is a great companion for jogging, hiking, and other daily outdoor activities.  He loves to chase balls and small animals, so he would probably not be good around cats, other tiny pets and small children.  He really likes to be indoors with the rest of the pack for at least part of the day, and is good with other dogs, especially females.  Zuzu, his best friend, is a 25 lb. terrier mix, who he adores.  Because he is a Nordic breed, Baron likes to pull carts, bikes, etc. and carry stuff in his backpack.  Although he is also bred for hunting, he does not like loud noises like gunshots, fireworks, and thunder.  Baron has been trained to sit, lie down, stay, come, and walk on a leash.  With consistent training from his new owner he should be able to perform those commands.  He will lie down and wait until given the command that it is okay to eat his food and is also crate trained and does a few tricks.

Baron is best with strangers if they are introduced gradually.  When we first got him he would nip at people who approached him in a forward manner.  We have really worked on his socialization and now he consistently greets newcomers without this behavior.  We are fairly certain that his former owner was abusive because of this behavior and his fear of any type of stick, be it one for fetch, hiking, or a broom handle.  We have diligently addressed these issues with the help of a professional dog trainer and feel like he deserves a home and a good life despite the scars left by this mistreatment.  We hope you will give him a chance to melt your heart as he has ours.
